360 MALL, Kuwait’s most dynamic and luxury shopping center has recently concluded the region’s first drone videography contest, where participants were the videos aim to showcase the mall’s unique and varied experiences that range between shopping, dining and entertainment.
The competition, which was held in partnership with DJI Falcon Vision, aimed to visually translate the attributes and intricate details each experience boasts in their own unique and respective ways.
Participants, age 18+, used aerial footage using drones and supported by footage taken by hand held video cameras, to submit a 60 second video in line with the overall theme and brief.
Judging entries was a difficult task and was led by renowned professionals that included Ali Younis, a professional aerial cinematographer; as well as Hasan Abdal, a movie producer and director. 15 impressive videos were shortlisted out of which three were selected as finalists. The entries were evaluated on creativity, technicality, drone VS hand held camera ratio and relevance to the brief.
Winners were recently announced at a ceremony, which was held at Tamdeen Group of Companies. The winner of the first prize, Ammar Ali Al Jeraiwi, won the grand prize of KD 1,000. In addition, Ibrahim Al Weesy came in second place and won KD 750 and Musaddiq Ilyas won KD 500 for his achievement in 3rd place.
The competition, a first in Kuwait, aimed to unleash local creative talents. 360 MALL will build on the success of the competition by organizing a number of drone flying workshops in partnership with professional drone pilots, in an effort to support drone flying enthusiasts and help them to improve their technical abilities in flying drones and upskilling their filming talents.
